Camp Descriptions:
Aerial Adventure - This new camp will combine fantastic aerial fabric fun in the studio with outdoor adventures at Oakledge park - creating choreography on the playgrounds, trees, and rocks nearby. We’ll adjust this camp based on weather, students should have studio aerial clothes as well as light weight sneakers or sturdy/secure sandals for outdoor dancing.
Aerial Circus - There'll be no clowning around in this camp. Just kidding, there'll be plenty of clowning around as we work on our clowning skills, tumbling, aerial fabric, sling, and lyra. We’ll choose a theme for our unique circus and finish off the week with a vibrant showing for family and friends.
Aerial Solo/Duo Creation and Video Production - In this new camp, self-motivated students will be lead to create solo or duo aerial acts on their chosen apparatus. They'll develop choreography, choose music, and then design a storyboard for how best to capture their work. They'll work in teams to video each other, then use simple editing software to create a 3-5 minute video of their solo. This can be used for school talent shows, auditions, and for fun to share with family and friends. Students will be asked to bring a tablet if they have access to one.
Aerial Technique - The focus and duration of a summer camp allows for incredible skill and technique development. This camp will help students hone their skills and move to the next level of aerial arts.
Little Flyers - We’re excited to offer a half-day aerial camp for younger campers! Students will learn foundational aerial techniques that allow their imaginations to take flight. Students will create an aerial world with animals, landscapes, weather, and play. No experience needed!
Mixed Apparatus - Compare and contrast the aerial sling and lyra, fabric and rope. How do shapes and transitions relate in sequences and improvisation? Build original sequences, partnering, and develop a small group dance to share at the end of the week.
Mythic Aerial Masquerade - Bring story to life in this performing arts camp that combines storytelling, character development, aerial dance, and mask making in an engaging and dynamic experience that develops the adventurous imagination. Students will work in both Expressive Arts Burlington studio for mask making and character development, and Murmurations studio for aerial and ground dance. Reading, speaking, and drawing are integral parts of this camp. All aerial experience welcome!
